In-house development and manufacturing of advanced materials supporting some of the most innovative technologies and emerging industrial applications is the challenging focus of the new Advanced Materials Business Development Unit at the SAES Getters Group. 

Thanks to that exclusive blend of technological competences and farsighted management capabilities that has been strongly distinguishing the Group’s business activity since its very first inception, SAES Getters is uniquely positioned to offer competitive advantages to the advanced material niche markets.

All SAES Getters Advanced Materials are developed taking into account as first priority the impact on the environment and their functional performances. State of the art technologies and selected raw materials grant the achievement of such a goal.

SAES Getters’ product development in the advanced material industry focuses primarily on:

  • Organic Electronic

New organic molecules showing semiconductor properties have opened new frontiers in many fields that will surely bring breakthrough developments in the Consumer Electronic as well as in Domestic and Industrial Lighting Industries. SAES Getters is very active in these emerging fields with the offer of a wide variety of dispensable innovative Dryers able to ensure a long life of OLED devices (Organic Light Emitting Diodes). OLED technology is the platform for the next Display and Lighting applications which will make it possible the production of extremely thin displays with excellent contrast as well as flat lamps.

  •  Photovoltaic Industry

Photovoltaic Industry is growing very rapidly to comply with the reduction of CO2 production worldwide. Thin film photovoltaic modules ( a-Si, CdTe, CIS, CIGS and others) are gaining market shares thanks to their ability to decrease production costs meanwhile ensuring efficiency increase.

Life time and stable efficiency in harsh environmental conditions affected by moisture permeating  through the edges of the thin photovoltaic modules are among the most important open issues.

To this purpose SAES Getters offers an edge sealant tape based solution available in different thicknesses and widths. It combines a low permeability thermoplastic polymer with a specific moisture getter impregnated into the polymeric matrix derived from the core competences built up in 60 years of successes in the field of gas-surface interaction. The product, already available on the market, is called B-Dry®.

  • Energy Storage

SAES Getters R&I is deeply involved in the field of Energy Storage aiming at the development of specific gas management solutions for electrochemical devices such as batteries, capacitors and supercapacitors for hybrid automotive trasportation.
